To all who have been following my 3rd member saga re the Bronco. When I bought it, I was told the 3rd member was no good. The orig was in a box, and another used one was in its place, but no yoke installed. Well, yesterday, I pulled the 3rd member that was in the Bronco. It was 3.70 gears(no match the 3.50s up front). It also looks like they pulled it out of a mudhole and just threw it in!!!!

The good news is that the carrier is a Trac Loc, clutch type posi unit!!!! I was trying to talk my wife into letting me buy a locker for the rear, but at $485, that's a little out of the budget. Now I can just spend 56 bucks on the rebuild kit for the Trac Lock. So, total I will spend for the rebuild is $307.00. Anyone want to see the inside of a Trac Lock????????

I ordered the parts this evening, and that was the cost of them. I thought about a spool, but this will be a DD for me, with my wife driving it when she feels like. The driving manners of a spooled rearend are not something my wife would appreciate.

Cool Mike, sounds like things are moving right along. Are you doing the work yourself?

You know Dad has that LS in the front of Thumper.

Are you planning to lock the front. You can get the Aussie locker that James and I both like so much. Definitely cheaper than the locker for the 9". :spend:

I have a pro mech friend who is gonna hold my hand while I rebuild the pumpkin. I haven't done one of these in 20+ years. Eventually, it will get a locker in the front. Right now, the priority is getting it on the road. Planning on the 429 by the end of summer, unless the money tree sprouts a new branch, then it will be sooner.

Well, its pretty easy when everything is stock. The engine swap won't happen till after I haver had it on the road for a bit. I bet your rig will be a lot tricker than mine.
