| I got a call from this guy today who accidently burnt his 82' 3/4 ton Chevy to the ground. Hes wanting to sell me the th350, 208, and the axles for next to nothing. Im not going to post the price because it sounds to good to be true. The rear end is a 14 bolt but not the full floater that Ive been looking for. I going to look at everything tomorrow after work and think that that its to good of a deal to pass up. Im concerned and havesome ques. about the semi floater. I plan on lifting the truck 4 in. and running 35''s or 36''. I pretty sure that these axles will hold up to that but what about lockers? Will the 14 bolt semi floater hold to a detroit? Do they make lockers for the semi floaters? Does anyone make disk conversions for it? Is it worth it to put a locker in it and put it under my truck, its got 4:11 gears and a sceaming deal. I know that I could search for all this info myself but Id like to get some real feedback and everyones opinion. So please let me know what you think. Thanks | |||||||||||

| I don't know if they make lockers, but I'm sure they do. I would be okay with running a locker in the 14bSF with 35 or 36. Heck I ran 1/2ton axles locked front and rear with 37 for a couple of years and no troubles. | |||||||||||

| Ever heard anything bad about semi floaters? Besides not being a full floater? | |||||||||||

They have thinner axle tubes, a significantly weaker ring and pinion, smaller brakes and smaller shafts. That being said, you should be fine running 36's on it. Watch out for the trans and t-case, the aluminum housings may have melted and the fluid may be burned and stuck in the trans (meaning a fluid change probably won't save it). | ||||||||||||

| Nothing specific. There you go, Chris has the info. The only other thing to watch is whether or not is has a gov-lock limited slip setup. The 14bSF in our 3/4ton burb has one. A lot of people have had bad experiences with them failing catastrophically. | |||||||||||

| I was thinking about rebuilding the th350 with a reverse valve body because Ive already replaced the 700r4 twice. Do you think a rebuild would help if the fluid was burnt? I have only swapped trannys and am a noob when it comes to a automatic transmissions internals. | |||||||||||

| At the very least you'll know if it has the problem Chris was talking about. | |||||||||||

| screaming deal is a relative term. If the 14 bolt is 6 lug, under 300.00 is a good deal. | |||||||||||

| The axles are 8 lugs and he wants less than 300 hundy for the drive train. | |||||||||||

| The axles are 8 lugs and he wants less than 300 hundy for the whole drive train. Im now thinking about just bolting up these axles so that I will be set up for a full floater when I come across one. 8 lug rims, u joints, etc... | |||||||||||
