| Well even though I'm not done with this winter's mods, I can't resist doing some pic posting. Purchased in closed bid auction in 2000, $1175. I was a surplus truck used in Desert Storm and then put in storage in '95 until it was given to a small county in NE Colorado and they turned around and sold it. ![]() We stripped all the CARC paint off to bare metal and repainted it '70 Plymouth Lemon Twist Yellow. ![]() ![]() The next big visual mod was 37" MTRs. ![]() On the way to Blazer Bash '05. ![]() Rolled into a stream bed Jan '06. ![]() ![]() Wheelin after the roll. ![]() ![]() ![]() Here are some wheelin' vids from last year: Holy Cross This one is kinda long, but this is probably the most scared I've been yet. When I rolled into the stream bed there wasn't enough time to think. Here there was plenty of time... You have to watch Nate make it look easy first. | |||||||||||

I would have been better with a regular flop, but this was a flop with an 8ft drop. Luckily it was softened some by a pile of limbs. That's how the passenger mirror escaped unscathed; it managed to fall between limbs. We were going up an access road and it was very icy. I was trying to talk on the CB while driving. All of a sudden the rear tires lost traction and I started sliding backwards, whether I applied gas or brakes. I thought, "Damn, we're going off the road" and over we went. I was just happy as hell when I drove it out. A passerby in a Ford pickup with a winch helped us out. He got the truck winched over so the wheels could contact the bank. I reached in turned the key and motor lit right off. Pretty surprising with a carb, even the Holley Truck Avenger. From there I got in, locked in 4Lo and gave 'er hell. I kept clawing my way out and the winch kept me from loosing progress. Eventually I got back on the road. That was a hell of an adrenelin rush. I made several trail runs after that. The one in the last video link above gave me flash backs. So bad I had someone else drive back out. I'm anxious to get back out there this year and really conquer my fear. I need to get back on the horse and confront it. WOW! I feel like I just went to a therapist. Probably a little more response than you were expecting. ![]() | ||||||||||||

| Wow. That would have rattled the hell out of me. My flop was as low speed and easy as they come, like a flop on training wheels. But I didn't have a scratch before and I think that the constant worry took some of the fun out of wheeling. As to the fear, go at it. I am scared to death of heights. So I started rock climbing. I still have my moments, but overcoming fear by taking it on has always worked for me. | |||||||||||
