So I had my annual eval. today. Due to a tight budget, there are no performance raises this year for anyone. It sucks but at least they didn't do layoffs instead. So anywho I am going to end up with a major feather in my cap. We are starting a project in my dept. to install a plug-in clinical editing program to the system that we put auths in, eligibility and claims payment. The clinical editing effects claims but it's something our dept. is going to manage. So over the next couple months, they are going to put me through training to be a certified medical coder (a nice piece to out on my resume and can get a job anywhere making decent $$). I will be the dept. liaison for the project right under the Project Manager. And once this project is over, the PM will exit (she only does contract work for the company) and the software will be mine to manage, update, validate, the whole schmeer will be my responsibility. Having the combination coding experience plus database management experience will look fricking awesome to a future employer, not that I have any intentions of leaving at this point but one never knows what the future will hold.

Sorry that you didn't get a raise, however it sounds like you'll be further ahead in the long run with the trainning that you'll be going through.

You are right at least your company isn't making cut backs.

Not getting a raise sucks, but sometimes its worth a little money to buy some future good will from your employer. And the extra training never hurts.

Sounds very cool, and its free training. Raises are nice, sorry, and you are right, atleast they are doing something for you.

I think if they had the money you would have gotten the raise. Your great at what you do. I think the experience is a reward in it's own way.

Heck, I just envy you having a motorcycle.

Thanks James! Yes I would have gotten a raise and we may still once the year shakes out a little more. I got a score of 3 out of 5 on my eval and my boss said no one even gets a 3 so I feel good about that.

I am really liking riding expecially on the way to work, nice and cool. Going home sucks once I get in heavy traffic but at least I can sweat in the privacy of my own home and not stink at work.

It's good to hear that you are doing so well at work. Pretty soon Don will be able to just stay at home and maintain the bikes while you work to support the family.

That's what I'm hoping will happen with Nicole's job. Only instead of motorcycles, I'll work on the General.

My next goal would be that one of us brings home enough to cover all the bills and the other paycheck is living expense money. I am pretty close already and if Don didn't have to pay child support, he'd make enough. That way I wouldn't worry so much about 1 of us losing our job. I figure though with the coding certification, I can go anywhere and get a job and if I keep getting higher cert. levels plus a degree, I'll make killer $. Truly it's about me trying to get a job easily when we move back to the Front Range...
