I am working on starting my own custom 4x4 business. Not just doing custom work but also selling amsoil, warn, mile marker, camowrap, etc. I am working on a website for all this, talking to a lawyer, and setting up the neccessary bank accounts for transactions.

Anyone have any info/input that might be helpful for someone starting out?

thank you

Check locally for free tax filing classes and take one, unless you already know how to do it. Get your licenses and paperwork, don't be afraid to ask questions. Check local ordinances.

Good luck with it, it's great to work for yourself!

Do a business plan. It will tell you if the business is really viable. Look for help from the local chamber. I know in our "little" town we have an organization call the Small Business Development Center that really helps people starting businesses.

Ditto, in the process of doing the same thing. Also with the tax filing thing, it's the differance between them taking your business or everything.

Good luck, have fun, don't stress, its not worth it.

Form an LLC or Corp for the business and find a good accountant to set up the taxes the first year.

Yes, and maintain that "corporate veil".
